Annual Fall Expedition to the Royal Ontario Museum
The McMaster Classics Club has been traveling to the Royal Ontario Museum for a tour of the Greece and Rome exhibits since 1930, guided most recently by the incomparable Dr. Spencer Pope. This year, on November 9th, 2019, our group viewed the many pieces of pottery that the Museum has available, speculated on the meaning of the colossal Athena Promachos located in the Parthenon, and stood in awe of the beauty that is the many sculptural pieces the ROM has to offer.
We would like to thank all who attended and enjoyed themselves, and especially Dr. Pope for leading us in an engaging and entertaining tour of the many architectural pieces on display. This experience is a great way to see what can usually only be explored through photographs in the classroom environment and engage more fully with the history and mythology.
See you all again next year!
