The Department of Classics at McMaster University will be presenting a graduate student conference on March 18th, 2017.

Topic: “Identity and Representation in Graeco-Roman Antiquity”

Keynote Speaker: Dr. Susan Alcock, University of Michigan

Abstracts for papers on Identity and Representation in Graeco-Roman Antiquity are sought for the Classics Graduate Student Conference at McMaster University. Abstracts should be no longer than 300 words, to be submitted to the address below. We encourage papers exploring the themes of identity and representation from a variety of perspectives including, but not limited to, personal, political, social, cultural, or religious. We hope to consider questions of not only how the ancients viewed themselves, both personally and collectively, but also how they viewed their past and the world around them.

Papers delivered at the conference should be 15-20 minutes in length.

Submit abstracts electronically to Amanda Devitt:

Deadline for abstracts: Friday, December 2nd, 2016
