Gods, Heroes, and Puppets!
A puppet show version of the classical Roman comedy play Amphitruo by Plautus. The play tells the story of a wild and crazy night, in which the gods Zeus and Mercury take on the appearance of two mortals, the hero Amphitryon and his slave Sosia, in order to trick Amphitryon’s wife Alcmena into conceiving and giving birth to Hercules. This version, performed on April 23, 2018 at McMaster University by PhD students Corbin Golding and Edward Middleton, presents a delightfully modern English version of the play as a puppet show, which can be enjoyed by new audiences and students of the original alike.
